Needy piggy bank is like a virtual pet of your own, only it needs money to be kept happy, so it probably is more like a girlfriend. The concept, designed by Wang Chao, Maggie Kuo and Jordi Parra needs you to feed it credit cards to keep it happy. For the concept mockup, there is a laser cut wood pattern facade holding an iPhone that displays animated eyes and expressions. As the “piggy bank” gets sad, it demands a credit card be inserted to make it happy.
As the card is inserted, an Arduino processor notes the card, making the piggy bank happy. Along with that, the card is charged a small amount that is saved in a separate savings account. A good idea, but as OhGizmo points out, it would be much wiser to use a debit card with this one.
