Kawasaki has gone all futuristic with its new concept bike, simply named J. Independent designers have long been cooking up concepts like these, but this is probably the first time a major manufacturer has lent weight to the futuristic idea. Kawasaki J Concept has three wheels, two at the front and one big wheel at the rear. Two wheels at the front means that the conventional handlebar gets replaced in favor of two controllers, each individually connected to a wheel.
The conventional bike look is a “sports mode”, a low-riding position built for speed. Once you are done with the sports mode, you could shift to the “comfort mode” where the rider sits upright, the wheelbase shortens and the two front wheels move to a distance, and the vehicle takes a brand new look.
Powered by an electric powertrain, Concept J is destined to stay a concept. However, Kawasaki does point out that
the future might hold several interesting developments. Who is to say, maybe Concept J forks out children to carry on its legacy.
The concept was unveiled at the 2013 Tokyo Motor Show. Hit ahead for more images and a video from Reuters. Interestingly enough, Kawasaki’s own video for the concept seems to have been taken down for copyright infringement.
