Getting Car Furniture Luxuriously Right With the Glamour Beetle Armchair

Furniture that has the elements cars is not really rare, but it is rare to see where the disciplines of automobiles and furniture work in harmony. Glamour Beetle Armchair is way more than a couch dumped into a cut section of the Beetle. It manages to keep its identity as the car while very successfully functioning as a chair as well.

Fish Shaped Designer Lamps

A lamp that is a sort of deja vu for the design of Frank Gehry, the fish lamp takes its form from a design the 80+ year old architect created 25 years ago. The first fish lamp was created some 25 years ago when the designer saw shards of colorful plastics from ColorCore laminate. Revisiting the old design, the architect has created a new series of fish lamps, built again by using the ColorCore from Formica.

Furniture Held Together Only Through Tension

California based designer Robby Cuthbert builds furniture that is not held together by conventional means like adhesives or nails, but relies on tension to keep its elements in place. All the wires you see in the furniture are to get the tension in the material built up enough to keep it a tangible furniture item, while staying on the course of novel design.

Flow Bamboo Chair is Apparently Quite Comfortable

We see Flow by Taiwanese designer Cheng-Tsung Feng and craft artist Kao-Min Chen, and we cannot imagine this mess of bamboo strips could be comfortable. In fact, looking at its base and the possible amount of injuries that could happen, this could be something like the Iron Throne of Westeros. The designer though maintains that it is a comfortable bamboo chair “light and free as a cloud” and where you could enjoy a lazy afternoon.

Making walls get an aesthetic and look better, these wall surfaces take inspiration from contemporary art and styling to look extra good. 3D Surface was formed as a result of a collaboration between three experienced craftsmen Romano Zenoni, and Alessandro and Stefano Fazzuoli. The company created textures, coats and materials that would be fit for indoor use in any environment.

Seaweed Lamps by Nir Meiri

Marine Light by designer Nir Meiri makes use of seaweed as a primary element. While the seaweed plays a passive role, it is its presence that gives the lamps their unique style. Seaweed is applied over metal strips while it is still wet. As it dries, it shrinks and sticks to the metal strips, forming a lampshade. A finishing coat is applied over the seaweed to keep it preserved. The final result is this impressive and unique looking lamp you see here.
