Hanging Canvas Furniture

We find the Hanging Canvas Furniture to be all kinds of cool. In its basic form, the furniture is simply a two dimensional painting of a seating area. When weight is applied to it, as in when someone moves to sit on the furniture, the canvas stretches to give way and adjust the person. Available in three different variations, Canvas furniture is the work of Japanese design studio YOY and was presented at the Milan Design Week.

QWERTY Keyboard Sofa

Kitschy Qwerty keyboard sofa from Zo Loft has a very faithful keyboard look and a big space bar to rest your ass on. Keys on the geeky sofa bed have micro electric motors controlled by a remote control so each of them can be individually adjusted to the needs of the user. We’d prefer they included a USB cable and actual keyboard capabilities as well. Now that would have been fun.

Corvette Desk, Because I’m Rich That Way

If owning a Corvette not good enough, you could always get a desk that looks pretty much like the rear of the car. And it does look pretty cool. If the Corvette is not your taste, the seller also has a 69 Camaro that would happily serve the same function. All these products are handmade into the likeliness of these famous cars. The roster includes desks, shelves, liquor bar, even a BBQ pit, and if you made some request to the seller, they would probably get that done as well. Available on Brian Bauer’s Etsy shop.

How Far Would You Go For Your Posture?

Having a good posture is absolutely desirable, but sometimes, the question must arise about the lengths you’re willing to go for that. The ideal thing to do would be having a good exercise routine, but many people tend to be short on time for such important activities. Another option would be sitting on a balance ball while at work. It is a simple solution to give you a workout and keep the back strong while you slave away at the computer.

DRM Chair Self Destructs After Eight Uses

A satirical look at the concept of DRM, this chair intends to show the absurdity of the idea. Called DRM Chair, the creation of students at Swiss university ECAL calculates the number of times it has been sat upon using a sensor, and when the counter reaches eight, it goes into self-destruct mode. Joints in the chair are made of wax, which start to get heated by a nichrome wire once the number of intended uses is complete, and eventually heat it enough to make the wax melt and for the chair to fall apart.

Magnetic Levitation Table

Floating on the idea of magnetic levitation, this table would make an incredible peace in the living room, well as long as you don’t bump into it or put some weight towards a single side. Also, keep your gadgets away from that strong magnetic field. Height of the table can be adjusted by changing the power running through the electromagnets that keep the table floating. Designed by Yana Christiaens.

Furniture That Brings Camping Indoors

Designer Stephanie Hornig has taken inspiration from the life of a “modern nomad with camping”, which according to her, represents simplicity and independence. Working on that theme, the designer crafted this range of simple, functional furniture. The most noticeable in the set is the sleeping bag sofa, that to us seems a cool mix of the indoors and the outdoors. Other items in the set include a table and a lamp.
