Inventions by British artist Dominic Wilcox are entirely functional, but perhaps not quite useful. While the artist ensures that all these work perfectly, the inventions are rarely made to be “useful,” rather they are just examples of what could be.
The artist says he enjoys finding the conceptual surprises hidden in the banal, mundane things that surround us everyday. That thought does show up in these inventions. You could perfectly imagine things like these actually existing, but the practical purpose or use of these items is severely limited in scope. Yet, it is impossible to miss the creativity and thought that went into these designs and inventions.
