Germany based graphic designer Zhi-Yun Zhang imagines a “collaboration”, a mashup if you will, of famous pop culture icons represented by music stars, with cartoon characters. As the artist says, the attempt was to match the stars and characters in a way that both would have some similar qualities and be as close to their counterparts as a subject like this would allow.

Drug Addict ’90s Cartoons Are Terrifying
Cartoons we so adored in the ’90s are now past their prime. Sure, we may miss them and remember them with nostalgia, but the characters are mostly out of work. With that kind of fall comes the trouble of addiction, and it seems several of the favorites didn’t quite well manage their climb down from fame. Artist Paul Ribera‘s illustrations present a view of those cartoon characters as strung-out drug addicts. It’s really weird… but mostly terrifying.
