Wet Dog Portraits

An adorable and hilarious set of photographs of dogs caught mid bath. As photographer Sophie Gamand puts it,

“Wet Dog is a series on dogs being washed during their grooming sessions. The way the water plays with their hair in a very painterly manner, and their facial expressions as the water is poured on them creates striking portraits that resemble famous humans or important characters. The dogs become timeless sculptures.”

A series of illustrations by South Korean illustrator Onasup, Beast Portraits show animals with the image carrying characteristics of the passing seasons and time. For example, the illustrations are warm and bright for a summer day, take a darker tone for night, and perhaps the touches of white present the winter. Well, that’s just how we see it. The animals might very well be Instagramming selfies.

For his “All That I Am” project, Koby Barhad used the DNA of Elvis Presley in genetically engineered mice. The idea is to explore ethical and philosophical concerns, ranging from questions of talent, to the ownership and legal rights tied to using someone else’s genetic data.

Super Realistic Octopus Sculpture Embedded in Layers of Resin

Artist Keng Lye paints super realistic, life-like three dimensional “paintings” that are as realistic as things can get. The artist starts of with layers of resin that are meticulously painted one on top of the other. Eventually, the meticulous process sees the emergence of very realistic sculptures that are stunning, to say the least. The technique is best known for its use by artist Riusuke Fukahori in Goldfish Salvation.

The Hunger Games Re-made With Cats and Cardboard

Hunger Games re-made with cats doesn’t have Jennifer Lawrence, which sucks, but it does have a lot of kitty action so I guess we’re good. For filming of the kitty Hunger Games, cardboards with scenes illustrated on them were used, with holes cut out where cats would inadvertently put their face, giving character and tone to the video. The video is a quick run through the movie, featuring some of its best scenes and plot-twists, all presented with cats in cardboard.

Love Him Like You Love Yourself

A good concept surely goes a long way in advertising. The well choreographed photographs show dogs and cats with a human touch, asking onlookers to Love Him Like You Love Yourself. The slogan and the campaign have been created by Paris based ad agency Leg for Biocanina. It underscores the idea of taking good care of your pets, and not neglecting their needs, or the care they need.
