Photographs Show the Vanishing Indigenous Tribes Across the World

The Goroka, Papua New Guinea

Ours is a fast changing world, and as the world changes, so does the lifestyle of people living in it. Of course, some are affected slower than the others, and now we stand at the point where lifestyles of indigenous tribes that have changed little over the centuries are set to go into extinction. British photographer Jimmy Nelson went on a journey spanning several countries across the globe to photograph some of the vanishing indigenous tribes.

The photographs have been shot with a 50 year old plate film camera, and are collected in a series titled Before They Pass Away. While photographing the series, the Nelson also spent plenty of time with the tribes trying to understand their culture, rituals, and heritage that are poised to soon be a thing of the past, or at the very least, transform into a different, more “modern” setting.
