Flying cars? What flying cars, we’ve got ourselves a bike that flies. Admittedly, it does not look half as awesome as what we would imagine a flying bike to be, but at least we have a start. Developed by several Czech companies working together, the flying bike recently went on a test flight where it lifted up a dummy and spent some time in air.
Powered by electricity, the prototype bike is actually too large to be a conventional bike given the huge wingspan and assorted accessories it needs to carry along. Developers are hopeful of developing a bike that would be able to lift humans and they hope one could be ready later this year.
Obviously, a lot of work still has to go into the bike as it becomes fit not just to lift humans, but also to stay afloat for useful durations. Cutting down on its 220 pound weight and sprucing up the batteries that power its six propellers might help, but then a lot of consideration has to go in before we actually see a bike that flies.
