An Ocean of Clouds in the Grand Canyon

grand canyon ocean of clouds

What we’re calling here an Ocean of Clouds, is a rare phenomenon where the Grand Canyon seems to be full of clouds. Well, in the last few days, it has happened twice. The event usually happens once every decade, but this time it also carries greater intensity with its frequence. The clouds are caused by a temperature inversion as warm air on the higher parts of the canyon traps cold air and fog on the lower parts. Visually, the results are stunning.
