Man Builds a 737 Simulator For Son’s Bedroom
Forty year old Laurent Aigon wanted to be a pilot. Since life has its weird ways, he could not achieve that dream and 40 years is probably too old to start in that line. So he did the next best thing, Aigon built a Boeing 737 simulator to enjoy the sensation of flight, and have his children enjoy the same too.
He spent the last five years buying parts and learning to put them together, because building something as complex as a simulator is no easy feat for someone who has no professional training for that field. A waiter by profession, Aigon was aided by friend Jean-Paul Dupuy as he set off to work on the simulator in his 12 year old son’s bedroom.
Aigon spent a “few thousand” Euros to arrange for the parts that were flown from various locations throughout the world. He learnt the procedures for flying planes, cockpit controls and now has enough expertise to control the virtual plane. Five networked monitors are connected to the simulator, allowing him to take virtual journeys to locations like Sydney and Rio de Janeiro.
