NASA Shows One of the Clearest Images of Night Earth

NASA and NOAA have released a series of composite images that show the Earth shining in the night. These high quality images are sharp enough to capture light from wildfires, and sensitive enough to even include lights from boats. The images were captured separately over a course of 312 orbits and when stored, required a space of 2.5 terrabytes. These high quality images were captured using the VIIRS, Visible Infrared Imaging Radiometer Suite.
