It’s a bit late, but typography has finally seen the true ways of the world, and with the masterful work of the website Alphamales on Tumblr, it’s now putting up a tribute and homage to the “world’s manliest males.” They’re also available as prints on Artflakes.

Bubble Wrap Typography

Bubble wrap most likely is one of the greatest inventions of the human race. It will make the best of friends and most loving of families fight over who gets to burst the bubbles. Spanish design studio Lo Siento added another dimension to bubble wrap, using it for typography, where each bubble serves like a pixel. Made for Japanese magazine “81 Magazine” the bubble wrap was injected with paints to be colored and form alphabets.

Galaxies Make the Alphabet of the Universe

Considering the sheer number of galaxies in the universe, it wouldn’t be too tough to imagine seeing them in different shapes. The particular image here shows galaxies that take the shape of alphabets. The look at these shapes is the result of Galaxy Zoo Project, where volunteers sift through large number of images of space to do some preliminary work on the appearance of galaxies, leaving scientists to do all that interesting sciencey stuff they do. Galaxies do make a very cool typeface.

Dead Words Project

Words have a lifeline, and some fall out of use pretty quick. The Dead Words by Karen To has Karen and other designers she invites, getting together to find dead words. The rediscovered dead words are then reinterpreted by being styled into beautiful typography. Finally, the words dropped from lexicons and dictionaries get a place to call their own.
