My Cover of… is a series of six animations by Kristof Luyckx. All these were made for the graphic festival Beyonderground. These animations/movies were displayed as inbetween animations before the start of various events at the festival. The monster character art is as interesting as the animations themselves. How Disney Used Live Models For Animation in the ’50s
Animating in the early days of its technology wasn’t an easy job to do, as animators would use a Rotoscope to draw over a live action film. A tedious job, and one not so easily accomplished. These photographs show how some of the early Disney animated movies like Snow White, Sleeping Beauty, and Cinderella came into being. It’s interesting to see what the actual characters looked like, and how artists would draw over them to create a similar, yet markedly different scene. Rotoscoping was first used by Disney in 1937 for the Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs movie.
