3D printer uses solar energy to make glass from sand

A project by Markus Kayser, this unique 3D printer explores the world of manufacturing possibilities in a desert. For any manufacturing operation, energy and raw material can be a main concern, quite huge concerns actually when you are trying to set up an operation in the desert. This machine on the other hand, can be quite self-sufficient, using 3D printing process that uses sunlight as the energy source and sand as the source for raw materials to create glass and glass materials.
