Amazon is getting ready for a new Amazon Prime Air program which, to put it simple and short, will have packages delivered to consumers in thirty minutes or less by means of unmanned aerial vehicles. A video of a recent test flight of the delivery drones in action shows just how efficient they can be, and why we would randomly order a couple of products just to see the drones bring them home.

We have not really kept up with technological advances in fiction, a very glaring example of which is that we don’t yet have anything close to the hoverboard that Marty McFly showed off in Back to the Future. Though it is quite heartening to see that we are making progress on that score. Here’s a functioning 1:2 scale replica of the Hoverboard. Good news, it hovers. Bad news, you can’t even begin to use it the way Marty did.

It can display texts, caller ID, email, your favorite apps, and can even control music playback through iTunes, Spotify and Pandora. The watch runs on a rechargeable battery and claims one full charge to be good enough for 5-7 days. Costs $150.

The television has been universally regarded as the “idiot box” ever since it came into being. It sits so firm on the title, we seem to have forgotten the new, improved idiot box that rolled around: the smartphone. iDiot is a very cute animation that takes a dig at our smartphone addiction, more specifically, the iPhone that we all heart so much. Cute robots parade a world, enjoying their smartphones, and doing, well, the dumb things we love to do with our smartphones. The video environment was created using cardboards and the robots come from a real Japanese robot kit. Now if you’ll excuse me, I have to go stare at my smartphone screen.

Russia’s multipurpose fighter Sukhoi 35 is a generation 4++ fighter jet designed to tackle air, ground and sea targets. A massive improvement of the Sukhoi 27 (Su-27), the Su-35 would be far better geared in terms of modern technology and capability. The images here show a procedure trainer/simulator for the aircraft that was apparently available for public display. The photographs have been captured by aviation photogrpaher Lystseva Marina.
