German firm ZA Architects has come up with a concept idea for the colonization of Mars. Since the first step to building a colony there is to have habitable areas, or at least shelters, the concept suggests that such shelters or caves be built underground. The idea is to send minimal resources from Earth, except solar powered robotic machines that would then get to work building hexagonal shaped structures on the red planet.
Here’s what you get when Quentin Tarantino directs Disney movies and has Samuel L. Jackson star in them. For one, Disney movies move from the concept of being cute to being kickass, because no one in their right mind would call Samuel L. Jackson cute. The set has been written by Alex J. Mann and designed by Jennifer Sanders.
You have to love this superb Ying-Yang styled Batman vs. Superman poster. Made by Matt Ferguson, the poster is about the Man of Steel sequel, which should be on screens in 2015 and feature Batman and Superman.
Disney Princesses have got all dressed up for their day on magazine covers. They have all stuck to their simpler styles and magazines from their own little world’s unlike the time when we saw them on covers of popular magazines, or when the princesses added glam to their style for the covers of Vogue magazine. These illustrations are the work of Disney blog Oh My Disney, and they say they have part two coming up soon.
Checkout this stunning set of very realistic renderings of female comic book characters and superheroes by Jeff Chapman. The sets prominently feature Supergirl, Wonder Woman, Lara Croft, several other characters, and a whole lot of cleavage. Supergirl we see is all dressed in that brand new Man of Steel style dress, which is apparently the new choice of the family. Many of these images were made on commissions, though several have been made for the artistic style itself.
It has been a while since we first saw Fire-Design, a French company dedicated to take the dreary looks off fire extinguishers and suiting them up. They have added a lot more funk and design since then, including the option to allow you to have a custom design made for your fire extinguisher. You could for simplicity choose from a variety of colors, or just go down the road of random design and come up with some very eccentric looks, including having them packed and delivered like wine bottles.
As we all know, 30 is a magical number that makes all of us who are almost there shit bricks just at the thought. Putting on a brave face, or holding a torch as an example for all of us dreading the day, Eurydyka Kata has created this poster of 30 Things I Have Yet To Learn. Kata has turned 30, and the poster shows a lot of things that are still left to be done. Yup, that will work.
Girls of Nintendo get a new look in these illustrations by Javier Jiménez. We like the aged look of these illustrations, though we won’t be sure about all three girls covering their arms entirely in tattoos, even though it adds flavor to these illustrations. The set includes Princess Zelda, Princess Peach, and Samus.
Japanese artist Hittomi has a lovely collection of bread slices decorated by well illustrated anime characters. Apparently, the effect is achieved by first drawing on clear plastic sheets and then translating them onto toast akin to stenciling. The colors are vegetable and food additions that add quite a touch to these illustrations. I almost wouldn’t have the heart to eat it. But hungry and thoughtless like I am, I probably would chow on them, much like I wouldn’t mind taking a sip of the well crafted latte art.
Russian artist and photographer Alexey Menschikov combines street art, wit, and sometimes pure photography skills to achieve these photographs that have an inherent sense of humor. Everyday scenes get transformed into witty and thoughtful photographs that go well beyond the usual fare.
