“I’m looking good. Made the right choice buying this mirror. Did I say I’m looking good?” Well that’s what we envision conversations with the self would go like for those who bought this mirror and standing in front of it. Now that’s not at all a bad thing, considering the mirror does look really cool.
London has one of the busiest airports in the world, if not the busiest. As demand continues to rise, there will be a constant need for expansion. Land though, comes at a premium, and might involve having a number of people move and result in quite a few localities being destroyed. A proposed plan by construction company Beckett Rankine envisions a floating airport on the Thames estuary.
Jet Handheld Vacuum concept marries the unlikely world of vacuum cleaners and the iconic design of Harley Davidson, perhaps with a sprinkling of handheld guns. The concept by Jurmol Yao takes shape as a sleek vacuum cleaner with the looks of the body of a Harley and a leather seat.
Coming straight from the department of “why didn’t anyone think of this earlier?” the Art Radiators are well, radiators; except of the looking cool and not being ugly part. The Eiffel Tower radiator is quite self-explanatory, while its sibling, the Susie Radiator might as well have been a nice, flowery art piece.
Seeing all the advances in science, we’re pretty pissed there have been no advances in magic; because dammit, Aladdin had his flying carpet centuries ago and we don’t nearly have something like that. Thankfully, we can always turn to designers to make us feel better. Now the 1001 chair might now actually fly, but the baby sure gives a nice feeling of sitting in the air. The 1001 chair was designed and built by Thomas Hiemann and Markus Dilger, who apparently have no plans on commercial production and sale. Bummer.
The world still sits on the risk of a nuclear war, even though the shadow of the Cold War might have gone away. Mushroom Lamp by designers h220430 seeks to bring people attention to the subject of the still looming threat, hoping that awareness would help reduce the imminent threat. This does not really seem like an ideal approach, considering the lamp would appear more like a trophy, rather than an actual incentive to world peace.
Sea-life inspired pendant lamps by California based designer Roxy Russell take their laser-cut mylar material to a shape that looks much like Jellyfish. The Medusae collection has a lot of different forms to show, each in some way similar to the tentacled fish of the sea. Someone should probably look at Cthulhu now, we don’t want him to feel left out.
This chair is a concept that artist Cory Barkman has been working on. While the appearance of the chair gives an impression that it would be a rocking chair with an unstable base, it actually is a fixed chair that has been secured properly to a 3/8-inch steel base plate. The seat itself has been covered in Brazilian cow hide, while the back of the chair and the pillow wear leather.
Commissioned by Studio Job, the Eiffel Tower lamp is made out of patinated bronze, with a polished bronze lampshade.
