Smartring Shows Up To Compete With Smartwatches

Smartwatches have barely started their day in the sun, only to find they have competition all set to come up. Meet the Smarty Ring, which happens to be a very creative name for a smart ring. Measuring 13mm wide and including a tiny screen in its size, the smartring includes several features in its tiny form.

It uses a companion app and Bluetooth 4.0 to pair up with your Apple or Android device, and can display time, accept or reject calls, speed dial, and trigger the smartphone camera. Apart from these functions, it can also serve as a notification device for texts, e-mails, Facebook, Twitter, Google Hangouts, and Skype. Plus, there’s a countdown timer, alarms, stopwatch and a phone tracker that can look for your phone within a radius of 30 feet.

Creators of Smarty Ring hope to start shipping in April next year. The Indiegogo campaign for the ring blew straight past its target, the full featured ring is still available at their shop for $175, a discounted price, which will reach $275 at the ring’s introduction to the market. There are several other options and prices available as well.
