For the Pininfarina Chords concept, music is food. Not just in the literary, romantic kind of way, but also in the very literary sense. Designer Giampiero Sbrizzi envisions the independent concept car design to feed off low frequency vibrations, the likes of which can be observed in stringed instruments.
The principle for the energy conversion would be MIT’s Mini Energy Harvest. Now that technology might be eons away from generating enough energy to power a car, but concepts don’t really have to worry about those things. For the car to have a sweet, perpetual supply of energy, its bodywork and panels that will be made of carbon fiber, composite plastics and mahogany will include strings. It could be a giant stylish musical instrument that you play to charge up, and drive away into the sunset in true Hollywood fashion.
