Eternal youth, anti-aging, both these terms are like the keywords humanity has been searching for, since ever and ever. Russian scientist, Professor Vladimir Skulachev has now claimed that he has developed an anti-oxidant, a drug that will stop the deterioration of health caused by age. Skulachev is a professor of Bioenergetics, and has been working on the same for nearly 40 years. The drug is ready for clinical trials, and the professor believes it could be made commercially available within 2 years.
According Skulachev, the key lies in handling the way oxygen interacts with the body. For most of the time, the gas turns simply into water, but nearly 1% of the time, it turns into super-oxides that later turn into poisonous elements and herald aging-related diseases. The scientist claims success with eye drops in animals, and with his own cataract. Predictably, thousands are queuing to take part in these clinical trials. We’d be skeptical of such a theory, but according to Russia Today, Nobel laureate Dr. Gunter Blobel finds merit in Skulachev’s theory as well. In any case, we’ll keep our glasses handy if this fails.
