Airbus shows its vision of the future airplane with a concept

Airbus recently displayed its vision for the future of airplanes, what airplanes could be like in 20-30 years. Use of lightweight “intelligent” materials in the construction of the plane was pretty much expected, since a lot of concepts refer to them and these materials actually do have a lot of potential. Other highlights for the ultra-long concept passenger plane include slim wings, semi-embedded engines, and a U-shaped tail.

Since we are talking about the future here, fuel-efficiency and low pollution also happen to be benchmarks for the new concept. Interiors for such planes would be made of environmentally friendly self-cleaning materials, which would be able to change shape to best suit the comfort of passengers. Also, walls and floors could become see-through when required, so passengers would get a clear, unobstructed view of the sky and the ground below.
