Student housing made from recycled shipping pallets

Most green buildings end up not being so eco-friendly when you consider the environmental costs of the building materials, the transportation and in putting it all together. AME-LOT concept from Malka Architects hopes to take care of that problem in a very pleasing and innovative way. Designed to be a student housing, the design uses “existing materials,” discarded shipping pallets that is, to make an interesting design.

The pallets are placed on the building and joined together with horizontal hinges, giving them enough room to be flexible for privacy as well as large openings. The structure can take various geometric shapes, lending more interest to its unique design.
